1. Scope
EDISONKA is a work app for drivers and staff of transport companies. It shows shift plans, the electronic waybill, payslips, company documents and further agendas from the enterprise system of your employer. You cannot sign in without an account created for you by your employer.
This policy describes what personal data the app processes, why, and who receives it. It covers the EDISONKA mobile app and its web counterpart at edisonka.m-line.cz.
2. Who is responsible
Your employer is the data controller - the transport company that rolled the app out to its staff. It decides what data enters the app, who can see it and how long it is kept.
M-line software s.r.o. is the processor. We develop and operate the app for the transport company and process personal data only on its instructions and under a data processing agreement. We do not use the data for our own purposes.
In practice this means GDPR requests - access, rectification, erasure - are handled by your employer. If you write to us, we will pass the request on and help handle it.
3. What data the app processes
| Category | Details | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Account and sign-in | E-mail, password (stored only as an irreversible hash), name and surname, personnel number, company and depot, assigned modules and roles | From the employer's enterprise system |
| Work data | Shift and roster plans, shift and service details, electronic waybill (odometer reading, refuelling, actual vehicle), shift evaluation, duty exchange reservations, leave requests, validity of licences, training and medical check-ups | From the enterprise system and from what you fill in |
| Payroll data | Payment periods, hours worked, gross and net pay, transfer to account, payslips and payroll documents in PDF | From the payroll module of the enterprise system |
| Content you create | Suggestions and messages in a thread, operational reports, maintenance requests, survey answers, confirmations that you have read a document or news item, attached photos | Entered in the app |
| Location | Coordinates and the time they were taken, only in the Carrier check module, once, at the moment you request the location for the record | From the phone, with your permission |
| Device and notifications | Notification token, platform (iOS/Android), installation identifier, device name, system and app version, sign-in time | From the phone at sign-in |
| Operational and diagnostic logs | IP address, technical description of the error, app version and device state at the moment of a crash | Automatically on error |
The scope depends on which modules your employer has enabled. Data of a module you do not use is not processed.
4. What the app does not do
- It does not track location in the background or continuously. Location is read only on your request in Carrier check; the Dispatching module shows vehicle positions from the enterprise system, not from your phone.
- It contains no advertising or advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps.
- It does not use personal data for profiling or automated decision-making.
- It does not sell personal data and does not pass it to anyone for marketing purposes.
- It does not read the contents of your phone beyond the photos you pick or take yourself.
5. Why the data is processed
The purpose is the organisation of work at your employer: shift planning, records of journeys, payroll agenda, familiarisation with company documents and communication between drivers and dispatchers. The legal basis is determined by the employer as controller, typically performance of the employment contract, compliance with legal obligations and its legitimate interest in running the operation.
Diagnostic logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and being able to fix errors.
6. Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications - alerts about a new news item, a document to acknowledge, a message in a suggestion thread or a change in your shift.
- Camera and photos - taking or picking an image for a maintenance request, a suggestion and other attachments.
- Location - only recording the place in Carrier check.
- Storage - saving a downloaded payslip or document to the phone.
You can refuse any permission or withdraw it later in your phone settings. Only the part of the app that needs it stops working.
7. Who receives the data
- Your employer - data returns to its enterprise system, where dispatchers, maintenance, HR or payroll work with it according to the nature of the record.
- Apple and Google - delivery of push notifications to the phone. The device identifier and the notification text are passed on.
- Expo (Expo push service, USA) - sending notifications towards Apple and Google.
- Sentry (data ingested in Germany) - technical records of errors and crashes.
- M-line software - records of sign-ins and registered devices, operation of the attachment service and the portal.
Transfers outside the European Union concern only notification delivery and are based on the standard contractual clauses of those providers. Data is not passed to other recipients unless required by law.
8. Where the data is stored and for how long
The main storage is your employer's enterprise system. Depending on the agreement with the transport company, it runs either at its own premises or on M-line software servers in the European Union. Attachments and portal content are stored on servers operated for the app by M-line software.
- Retention of work and payroll data is set by your employer; we keep it for the duration of our contract with them.
- Diagnostic error logs are deleted within 90 days at the latest.
- Device registration for notifications lasts until you sign out or uninstall the app.
9. What stays on the phone
The app keeps a sign-in token, your settings (language, theme, font size), the most recently loaded data for faster display, and files you have downloaded. Signing out deletes the credentials and stored data; uninstalling removes everything.
10. Security
All communication between the app and the servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as an irreversible hash. What you see in the app is governed by the roles and permissions set by your employer. On our side, access is limited to a small group of staff bound by confidentiality.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access to your data, to its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, to data portability and the right to object to processing.
Exercise these rights with your employer, who is the controller. If you are not sure who to turn to, write to mail@m-line.cz and we will pass the request on. You may also lodge a complaint with the Czech Data Protection Authority, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, uoou.gov.cz.
12. Children
The app is intended for employees of transport companies and is not intended for persons under 16 years of age.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the processing changes. The new wording will be published at this address with an updated date. The app will notify you of any substantial change.
